Rupert White’s appreciation of visual art derives from a teenage passion for modern art from St Ives. Since then, much of his work explores how art relates to the place in which it is made. Using narrative to record memories and create histories, inviting participation in local myth and demystify perceptions of culture by creating immediate links to the individual viewer.
Based in Cornwall, Rupert originally trained as a doctor, qualifying in 1991 and specialising in mental health. He has exhibited extensively at venues including Newlyn Art Gallery; The Exchange , Penzance; Goldfish Fine Art, Penzance; Millennium, St Ives; Kestle Barton, Helford; Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin; Catalyst Arts, Belfast; and Red Wire, Liverpool.
