Searching for the Immortal Game is an ongoing series of chess games played to their conclusion in very precarious situations. It is an attempt to play the perfect game of chess despite the obvious surrounding distractions.
James Hankey’s work examines the paradoxical link between pragmatism and irresolution. He engages with scientific and philosophic ideas and use chance occurrences as a springboard for generating site-specific artworks that act as a key for further contemplation.
James lives and works in Cornwall. He is a graduate of MA Art and Environment at Falmouth University.
